Privacy

We built this site to collect as little as it can. There are no accounts, no email list, no advertising and no tracking for advertisers. Here is the complete list of what does get collected.

1. Access logs kept by our host

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like every web host, our infrastructure provider records technical details of each request so it can deliver pages and protect the site from abuse: the IP address the request came from, the page asked for, the time, and the browser's user agent. We use these logs only in aggregate, for example to spot errors or a sudden flood of automated traffic. How long the logs are kept is set by our infrastructure provider, and we do not combine them with anything else.

2. Page-view counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, which sites send readers here, and broad device and country figures. It does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you across sites. We look at the totals to decide what to write and fix next.

3. What you enter in a tool

The Chain Cost Calculator, the Cost per Wear Calculator, the Lifestyle Creep Calculator, the No-Buy Rules Card and the Wardrobe Audit Worksheet keep nothing in your browser's storage. They write what you enter into the page address, so that a result can be bookmarked or shared. Like any address, it is part of the page request when you reload the page or someone opens your link, so it reaches our host's access logs (section 1) along with the rest of the request.

A tool that remembers what you enter between visits, such as the 30-Day List of things you are waiting to buy, keeps that list in your browser's storage on your device, for you. We do not receive a copy. You can delete it from the tool itself or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

4. Email you send us

If you write to contact@hello.dideroteffect.com, we receive your email address and your message. We use them to read and answer your note, and to fix a page if you have reported a mistake. We never add you to a mailing list, and we never sell or share your address.

What we do not do

• No accounts, sign-ins or passwords.
• No newsletter or email list.
• No advertising, and no advertising or social media trackers.
• No cookies set by the site itself. Our host may set a strictly necessary security cookie when it needs to check that a visitor is not an automated attack.
• No selling or renting of any information.

Children

The site is written for adults and does not knowingly collect anything from children.

Your choices

You can block or clear site data in your browser at any time; the pages work without it. If you want to know what we hold about you (in practice, only email you have sent us) or want it deleted, write to contact@hello.dideroteffect.com.

Changes to this page

If what we collect ever changes, we will update this page before the change takes effect and change the date at the top.
